With its complex spice-box sensory profile, this Spanish varietal has been a popular part of our program for over 20 years. Gracing the label is the latest of our Adobe series characters—"The Rancher"—a reference to Sam de la Cuesta, who in the mid-1900s planted and farmed our property as a walnut ranch.
On the nose, underripe cherry and cedar box aromas arise, while the palate is balanced between chewy fruit tannins, baking spice elements, and fleshy black fruit tones. The wine has a unique, grippy texture that speaks to its ageability, but it's also very pleasurable now as a compliment to hearty and spicy dishes.
