2016 Reserve Syrah | 750ml | 15.5% alc

This reserve bottling of our estate Syrah is culled from one specific block of our vineyard, where we find the qualities of sun exposure, elevation, and soil to be ideal for ripening. The stems are removed from the berries, then placed atop the hill amogst the Syrah vines to fully dry in the sun. The dried stems are then introduced into the fermentation. The resulting wine is a totally pure expression of our now over 20 year-old Syrah parcel. Only 85 cases were produced.

At 95 points, this wine was the highest rated single-varietal Syrah in Robert Parker's Wine Advocate report on Santa Barbara County in late 2019. Here's what they had to say:

Medium to deep ruby, the 2016 Syrah Estate Reserve is very tightly coiled on the nose, giving up glimpses of rosemary-crusted lamb, dark chocolate, warm blackberries and black cherries, hints of red licorice, olive, dusty earth and blueberry preserves—tons of layers.
